A Musical Thought

As I was driving in to work this morning it occurred to me that Emmylou Harris might be the best duet singer ever. And then I thought Nanci Griffith is pretty good, too. But I think Emmylou is better.

I then had the notion that I should not be allowed to sing along with either of them on duets. Even in the car alone with the windows rolled up. But I did anyway.

Pshaw. Singing along is almost always a good idea.

I adore Emmylou. She does seem well-suited for duets.

Roll down the windows and sing next time. It's worth it just for the looks you'll get from others on the road.

The freedom to sing is one of the glories of being alone in a car!

Besides, with hands-free cellular, no one knows whether you're singing or chatting—no more embarrassing red light moments. Then again, you can always roll down the windows and let the world enjoy your harmonies.
